The Science Based Targets (SBT) initiative has approved the emission reduction targets of Metsä Board, a leading European producer of premium fresh fibre-based board and part of the Metsä Group. According to SBT, the targets are in line with the level required to meet the Paris Memorandum of Understanding. The targets, which relate to greenhouse gas emissions from Metsä Board's operations (scope 1 and 2), are consistent with the reductions needed to limit global warming to 1.5°C. Metsä Board is committed to reducing its absolute greenhouse gas emissions in scope 1 and 2 by 100 per cent by 2030 compared to 2016. Scope 1 covers emissions from the company's own energy production and scope 2 covers purchased energy.

Metsä Board, Europe's leading manufacturer of premium fresh fibre board and a Metsä Group company, is pleased to announce that the food safety systems at its Kemi mill have recently been certified according to the FSSC 2000 standard for food safety. The certification documents that the production plant has taken extensive measures to ensure that the products provide the necessary safety for demanding end uses, such as direct food contact.

High-opacity white,

flexibility,
Variable data
and inline finishing convince

The excellent opacity and streak-free high-opacity white, the flexibility of the digital printing press, inline finishing and the ability to print variable data were the decisive factors for Alge Etiketten when choosing a digital label printing press. "The Dantex PicoColour convinced us", says Daniel Bösch, owner of Alge. "Not only the quality, but also the price/performance ratio is right with the PicoColour. With the installation of the digital UV inkjet label printing machine Alge reacts to the requirements of the market and enters into digital printing.

"After researching the market and looking at various digital label printing systems, we chose Dantex PicoColour. None of the machines we saw could offer a comparable opaque and streak-free white in the print result. In addition, Dantex configured the press to meet our exact requirements," explains Markus Reis, print shop manager at Alge Druckerei.

The specially configured equipment of the PicoColour for Alge labels adds value to the existing job structure and also safeguards the company's customer relations. The label printer sees a further advantage of PicoColour in Dantex's own UV inks, which are extremely scratch-resistant, lightfast and resistant to water and chemicals, without having to laminate the labels. The use of standard substartes (including silver and gold) currently in use in the print shop also eliminates the need to stock special digital substrates. Especially for companies that are entering into digital printing, this is a cost that is eliminated with PicoColour.

Alge Labels has installed the PicoColour in the configuration with CMYK plus white, full rotary die-cutting & weeding, corona pre-treatment, slitting and trimming. The maximum print width of the PicoColour is 210mm, substrate widths from 80mm to 230mm are possible. Standard equipment includes web cleaning, antistatic, circulating ink system, PicoPilot and MaxPrint software and LED UV pinning lamps after each print head. Printing is possible on all common substrates, from paper (also structured), foil, metallic substrates to PE and PP.
