As part of the AWAVirtual™ event series, Corey Reardon, CEO & President of AWA Alexander Watson and Associates (AWA) hosted on 7 June the Mergers & Acquisition Executive Forum for the Packaging and Labeling sector. The Forum brought together C-level executives, private equity firms, investment bankers and suppliers to create an industry focused platform for those involved or interested in the sector. Virtual sessions were conducted on Consolidation in the Label Industry, Deal Flow, and Sustainability in M&A.

To gain insight into brand-owner and converter perspectives on over-the-counter pharmaceutical and wellness product packaging, we recently conducted a study with key stakeholders in the field. Through these conversations, we discovered some confusion exists surrounding the sustainability of packaging materials. In this article, we will share some of our findings and help clarify some of the benefits and challenges of over-the-counter packaging sustainability. We will also cover results from an LCA study we recently conducted on fiber-based pharmaceutical packaging.

Article 1: Substrate shortages

In this series of articles, we will examine some of the key issues facing the packaging industry, including the availability of component machine parts and the lack of skilled manpower. In this first article, we will focus on substrate supply, which has become an acute issue in the global supply chain.

One of the many events scheduled by Mark Andy Europe for the first half of 2022 was an Open House for print students held at its Warsaw showroom and demo facility on 22nd April. The students, who came from the Printing Technologies Unit of the Faculty of Production Engineering at the Warsaw Technical University, took part in live demos of three Mark Andy presses: an Evolution Series E3 flexo line, a Digital Series iQ inkjet/flexo hybrid and a Digital Pro 3 toner/flexo hybrid.

Our technology makes no use of mineral oils and is probably the most food safe solution in the digital environment. This creates lots of opportunities towards the food sector going from small run lengths to promotional items of seasonals.
