After completing a comprehensive investment program for new technologies and equipment, as well as process and layout improvements, Pronexos, as a leading manufacturer of CFRP rolls, now offers significantly expanded capacities and capabilities for the production of large CFRP rolls.

CFRP rollers up to six metres long
"We now supply our customers with CFRP rolls up to six meters long," explains Philipp Kroschner, Sales Engineer at Pronexos. "There are many applications for rolls of this type. They are frequently used in the manufacture of plastic films and nonwovens. There are very few manufacturers in the world that can produce CFRP rolls of this size".
These extensive investments have now made Pronexos one of the most capable and efficient manufacturers of CFRP rolls in Europe. The investments include, among others:
A newly designed production line optimized for higher efficiency and throughput for longer rolls with larger diameters.
A new coating line that can coat rolls of any length with different composite coatings.
Two new furnaces for hardening long CFRP rolls.
A machining centre for producing inserts and journals for long rolls and large diameter rolls.
High-precision measuring and balancing systems for significantly more accurate measurements, for example on rolls with a length tolerance of only 0.01 mm, and for fine balancing of all roll types.
Significantly improved arrangement of winding lines and assembly stations for faster roll throughput.
The investment programme started in the first quarter of this year and was completed at the end of July. Pronexos is already supplying longer rolls, for example a larger number of 5.5 m long guide rolls for use in cast film lines.
Rollers for cast film lines
A key application for longer CFRP rolls are cast film lines and extrusion lines for food packaging, pharmaceutical packaging and other industrial applications such as LCD screens. "Such lines require rolls of four to six meters in length," explains Philipp Kroschner.
Rollers for flexo printing
The flexographic printing industry requires large quantities of web guide rollers. With the capabilities of Pronexos, a 2-on-1 winding on two spindles can be used, or even a 4-on-1 winding. This allows Pronexos to handle large order volumes even more efficiently. "Pronexos can now produce longer rolls with larger diameters to meet these requirements," adds Philipp Kroschner. "We can deliver roll orders faster by using a 2-in-1 winding approach so that up to four rolls can be produced at the same time. Pronexos now offers faster delivery for larger volumes".
