The machine that Schreiner ProTech has recently acquired is something very special in two respects - as the name itself indicates: the MS sonxTOP GENESIS series machine with multi-frequency is a technical world first in the field of ultrasonic welding due to its frequency bandwidth, and it also marks the start of a partnership with MS Ultrasonic Technology Group. Concentrated know-how for the benefit of customers.
Faster, more precise, more environmentally friendly - the advantages of ultrasonic welding are obvious, the technology has become indispensable in many industries. Meanwhile, the industry is all about making existing systems even better. As with the current multi-frequency machine. The sonxTOP series from the Swabian company MS Ultraschall has a servo-electric drive concept that works without compressed air, is ideal for cleanrooms and ensures process and reproduction accuracy. But the system can do even more: for the first time, the generator can provide all common frequencies. "Whether 20, 30, 35 or 40 kHz - the MS sonxTOP with multi-frequency is a world first with this range of ultrasonic frequencies and thus offers the highest possible flexibility. This leaves nothing to be desired," says Thomas Winker, team leader for mechanical design at MS. Instead of up to four machines, only one is needed for processing.
But the aspect of floor space was only one argument for the experts at Schreiner ProTech. Rather, they were also interested in the possibilities of torsional welding. This works well with thin-walled materials such as pressure compensation elements. The process can also be used to weld highly thin ePTFE films that are stabilised by a non-woven stabilised by a non-woven fabric. The end products are thinner, their properties are not affected by the use of this processing method and they meet all the high requirements of a DAE. "This is high-tech in torsional welding," enthuses Adrian Marggraf, DAE Product Manager at Schreiner ProTech. "We purchased the MS sonxTOP with multifrequency for our in-house test laboratory because we see it as a real added value for our customers," says Marggraf. "It brings our laboratory equipment up to date. We firmly believe that torsional ultrasonic welding is the future in ultrasonic welding of membrane materials - and we are happy to invest in it."
It took about three quarters of a year to develop the machine before Schreiner ProTech is now the first customer to use the MS sonxTOP with multifrequency. "I am proud," says Sebastian Kirchner, Regional Sales Series Machine Bavaria at MS, "to have a very reliable partner in Schreiner Group, who trusts in MS's technology and has recognised the clear advantages. On this basis, I am convinced that we will continue to implement many successful projects together in our partnership." The next step for the two companies is already in the planning stage: in the course of the year, an additional punch-seal module is to be integrated into the machine.
