Coveris, a leading European packaging manufacturer, has won a record five Gold Awards at the Flexographic Industry Association (FIA) UK Awards 2024. Honoured for print excellence and sustainability, Coveris took five top prizes at the FIA UK Awards, in addition to two Silver and three Bronze Awards.

FIA UK is the leading trade association that represents the needs of the entire flexographic printing supply chain within the United Kingdom. The FIA Awards took place at the iconic Titanic Hotel, Liverpool, on Thursday 20th June 2024 celebrating outstanding quality, innovation and sustainability in a variety of print and special categories.
Reflecting Coveris’ commitment to environmental performance via its No Waste sustainability strategy, the packaging manufacturer won the prestigious Sustainably Produced Packaging Award for the third time in four years. Coveris’ downgauged and recyclable tissue overwrap films incorporating innovative ReGen resin took the Gold Award. ReGen resin is produced from Coveris’ pioneering de-inking and recycling facility, ReCover Louth, closing the loop in plastic packaging production. The ReCover Louth facility, which opened in 2023, was awarded Silver in the Operational Environmental and Sustainability category.
Coveris’ Flexibles Business Unit, producing flexible film packaging, achieved three Gold Awards, highlighting excellence in flexographic print, brand management and technical innovation across its operations in the UK and Germany. Its UK sites were awarded Gold for Flexo Print on Film: Surface Print Medium for ASDA’s Extra Special White Sourdough flow wrap film and Flexo Print on Film: Reverse Print Wide for Little Moons Mochi Ice Cream lidding film. Coveris Flexibles Germany received the Flexo Print on Film: Overseas Gold Award for Goldsteig Almdammer am Stück, which also received Bronze in the Best use of Extended Colour Gamut special category.
And finally, it was a clean sweep of Gold, Silver and Bronze Awards in the Flexo Print on Paper: Labels Printed on Paper category, demonstrating Coveris’ leading technical expertise in flexographic print quality and colour management for linerless labels. Produced at Coveris’ specialist linerless label site in Spalding, Lincolnshire, the winning entry was for Tesco Finest Certified Irish Angus Fillet Steaks. Linerless labels are characterised by their non-use of backing paper resulting in more labels per reel and less waste.
Christian Kolarik, Coveris CEO said, “Five top accolades for Coveris in the FIA Awards recognising print excellence and sustainable packaging in the flexographic industry is an outstanding achievement for our business. Reflecting our high-performance culture and commitment to investment in new technologies, print expertise and ambitious No Waste sustainability vision, these awards capture the industry-leading standards across all business units in the Coveris Group, both for ourselves and our customers. Congratulations to our teams who have seen their efforts and dedication rewarded with these successes.”
