In mid-December, experts gathered at DIENES in Overath for the system days. DIENES showed slitting systems in final assembly. The exhibited systems will be used to cut a wide variety of materials, so that interested parties from a wide variety of industries such as paper/ cardboard, labels / adhesive tape, aluminum / non-ferrous metals film/foil / plastic / nonwoven / textile, rubber and composite materials / composites could get an idea of slitting possibilities at DIENES.

Flexi Labels, Peterborough – UK, install a 2nd Daco D350S sheeting line for the production of A4 & A3 laser / inkjet labels. Flexi Labels produce both short run, sometimes as little as 10 sheets and long run sheet labels. Initially they purchased a Daco D350S sheet production line which was installed in January 2016. With increased production requirements Flexi Labels ordered a 2nd machine with an increased specification to add further products to their growing portfolio of products.

As part of a substantial investment program, Vitra NV, a GMP and BRC certified Belgium packaging printer and converter, based in Wommelgem, has invested in two BOBST 20SIX CI flexo printing presses and a BOBST CL850 laminating machine. All new BOBST equipment will be installed in the second half of 2017 and significantly extend the company’s capacity. The family-owned company was founded in 1935 and is currently managed by the second and third generations. To ensure premium quality of their products, Vitra adheres to strict process control rules from pre-production to post-production with corresponding in-house capacities.

With a throughput of around 3.5 million boxes a day, ensuring the smooth conversion of die-cut sheets into folded and glued cartons is an important issue for The Majan Printing and Packaging Company. The removal by hand of edge waste on piles of die-cut work is time consuming, may lead to repetitive strain injuries among operatives, and can deform the blanks.

Eight months ago, Colony Packaging & Machine made the biggest decision in its 53-year history by changing its name. Formerly known as Colony Paper, the new name better reflects how the family owned, third generation-run business has evolved since three war veterans opened the shop in 1964. Another key decision has since followed - the installation of a reconditioned 52-inch Lawson paper cutter with a Microcut® electronics package from Colter & Peterson in October.
