Visitors to this year’s FACHPACK 2021 can discover consumer and climate friendly closures with enhanced tamper-proof designs at the BERICAP exhibition booth no. 418 in hall 6. BERICAP is one of the leading global manufacturers of plastic and aluminum closures. At the packaging industry trade fair in Nuremberg from September 28 - 30, 2021 it is showcasing a range of innovative products with eco-friendly and recyclable designs. Over the years BERICAP has been evolving its products to a lighter design with lower material usage. In particular, a focus on the use of recycled materials (PCR resin) is contributing to further reducing the carbon footprint and advancing closed loop material cycles.

An innovative corrugated bin for face masks by Metsä Board, part of Metsä Group, has been awarded a ScanStar in a Nordic packaging design competition organised by the Scandinavian Packaging Association. The mask bin, made of lightweight and durable corrugated board, helps to collect and dispose of used face masks easily and safely. Metsä Board developed the concept together with packaging design agency Futupack and corrugated board converter Capertum.

Metal decorating experts from INX International Ink Co. will lead and contribute to several panel discussions held at this year’s Latin American Canmakers Conference (Latamcan), September 22-24 in Mexico City. Jonathan Ellaby, an INX metal decorating expert who recently retired, will be honored with a lifetime achievement award.

Following the completion of a comprehensive new print trial, XSYS has revealed the results of detailed tests comparing flexo printing with thermal plates and those processed with solvents. Working together with press manufacturer Nilpeter, the company set out to find a more sustainable solution that would not compromise print quality.
