Following the success of the last edition, the Group is now preparing for Chinaplas 2017. Taking centre-stage will be the Group's technological and plant engineering solutions for the industry, including those specifically designed for the strategic Chinese market where Sacmi has been a key player for over 30 years.

Mettler-Toledo Safeline Limited, a market leading provider of metal detection systems for vertical packing applications, has launched a series of enhanced features for Profile Throat metal detectors and Gravity Fall systems. These enhancements allow manufacturers to benefit from increased productivity, enhanced brand protection and improved product and process quality. The four elements are aimed at making metal detection a smoother, safer, less disruptive process that adds to the profitability of operations.

A&R Carton AB, Lund, Sweden, a member of the leading European packaging company AR Packaging, and Packages Limited, Lahore, Pakistan, have signed a strategic partnership agreement. The objective of this agreement is to establish a cooperation in the manufacture, procurement, sale and marketing in Pakistan and neighbouring markets of packaging made out of cardboard or other materials in combination with cardboard.

In response to customer demand, Mark Andy, the leading manufacturer of narrow web printing and converting solutions, has established a new direct sales office in Bangkok, Thailand. This office will soon be manned by sales, technical and administrative support staff, headed by Sales Director Asia Pacific, Shaun Pullen, with a Sales and Applications Support team led by Chris Irving. Pullen has been managing the region for Mark Andy for a little over a year, operating independently and liaising with the corporate team and network of distributors in the area. Irving is a recent hire, with 10 years’ experience in the narrow web market and keen insight into printing, converting and specialty applications.

FINAT, the international labelling association, represents an industry that is, on almost every front, a centre for change. With its roots in the family-owned self-adhesive label companies established in the 1970s, the association is bringing together the industry’s younger generation for the fourth Global Young Managers Club Congress, taking place in Lisbon, 22-24 March. This growing annual event is the result of the establishment of the FINAT Young Managers Club (YMC), FINAT’s initiative to address the challenges on both the technical and business management fronts that face second-generation and young newcomers to the label industry’s extended value chain.

Under the auspices of the Federal Ministry of Economy and Energy, the German Packaging Institute (dvi) is now on the lookout for the best solutions and innovations in packaging. Companies, institutions and individuals from home and abroad have until 30 June 2017 to submit their best products in 10 categories. The winners’ gala will take place on 26 September 2017 in the Humboldt Box in front of the Berlin City Palace.
