Circular economy, resource conservation, digital technologies and product safety - these are the "hot topics", the major themes of interpack 2023 in Düsseldorf.

The world's largest trade fair for the packaging sector and related process industries had to take a break in 2020 due to the Corona pandemic, but attracted more than 170,000 visitors and over 2,800 exhibitors from 55 countries to the capital of North Rhine-Westphalia at its last edition in 2017. Now it will open its doors again from 04 to 10 May 2023. Not least due to the long break, the event is again expected to set new records in terms of exhibitor and visitor numbers.
For LEONHARD KURZ, participation in interpack 2023 is a must, because the trend themes of the trade fair correspond 100 per cent to the areas that are high on the agenda of the Fürth-based expert for high-quality surface finishes. At interpack 2023, KURZ will be presenting sustainable processes, new machine technologies and innovative finishing solutions under the motto "Making every product unique". Other highlights include the "Inspiration Wall" at the company's stand, C36 in Hall 8a.
RECOSYS® 2.0: Optimised process and extended possibilities
KURZ is continuously developing its solutions with regard to sustainability. In addition to material reduction through the introduction of a transfer carrier that is up to 50 per cent thinner, the thin-film specialist has developed RECOSYS®, the first company in the world in the plastics industry to offer a take-back and recycling system in which carrier material that has already been used can be reprocessed. At interpack 2023, KURZ will be presenting a further development of RECOSYS®, which now enables even more CO2 savings thanks to an optimised process. RECOSYS® 2.0 is an absolute highlight topic for KURZ, which will be impressively illustrated by an extraordinary stand concept. Trade fair visitors can obtain further information on this directly at first hand at Stand C36 in Hall 8a.
Digital metallisation for unusual customer wishes
Digital finishing with DM-SMARTLINER knows hardly any creative limits. At its stand, KURZ will be displaying various exhibits that have been decorated using the innovative digital printing machine, thus demonstrating the many advantages of digital finishing. The DM-SMARTLINER applies metallic finishes quickly and easily to paper and board. The interplay of substrate and inks creates wow effects and turns products into real eye-catchers. This type of digital printing is efficient, saves costs and energy and can also be customised to meet individual customer requirements. Metallic finishes with the DM-SMARTLINER offer high resolution and impressive brilliance and can also be overprinted without any problems. With the DIGITAL METAL® overall concept, KURZ not only demonstrates its competence as a machine manufacturer, but also as a provider of holistic solutions.
Lots of inspiration and 3D visualisations of high-quality packaging designs
At the so-called "Inspiration Wall", KURZ will be presenting unique samples and prototypes at interpack 2023 that will provide impetus and make new finishing options tangible. Using the samples on display, visitors can see for themselves on site the variety and different options and discover new decoration solutions from KURZ. With TRUSTCONCEPT, for example, KURZ will be showing comprehensive security concepts and innovative products on the subject of product and brand protection. This presents the diverse possibilities of optical and digital security features that can be individually tailored to customers' requirements.
In addition, KURZ will demonstrate inspirations from the world of digitalisation and technological transformation with its subsidiary KURZ Digital. Visitors can experience innovative NFT and blockchain application examples at the stand and try them out for themselves.
High-quality designs can be created with the help of the DREAMCOMPOSER® software, which KURZ will be presenting live at the stand. The application, which was developed by the subsidiary KURZ Digital, is aimed specifically at designers, advertising agencies, brand owners and processors and enables the visualisation of high-quality patterns in 3D with a selection of over 100 real transfer decorations as well as exclusive design effects. The great advantage of this is that it is incredibly easy and cost-saving to experiment virtually with different finishes and the time-consuming and costly creation of prototypes is no longer necessary. For example, special colours or metallisations, but also embossing effects such as relief, patterns and structures from the catalogue of the KURZ subsidiary H+M can be tried out very easily on the screen. Thanks to the Viewerlink, it is also very easy to exchange information with the client, so that changes can be implemented directly live and everyone always has the current model on the screen. During demonstrations, visitors can experience live how a finished, virtual 3D model is created from a PDF document in just a few steps.
