SCREEN Graphic Solutions Co., Ltd. (SCREEN GA) has finalized development of a new fade-resistant yellow ink* that improves lightfastness for the Truepress Jet L350UV SAI S, a specialized UV inkjet label printing system. SCREEN GA plans to launch the ink worldwide starting in January 2023.

Outline
In recent years, the number of copies printed per job in label printing has been declining, and this trend is expected to intensify. In addition, the labels used for lot number identification of electrical equipment and precision instruments are often printed with variable data, and the demand for digital printing is increasing year by year.
Durability is required for such labels, and lightfastness is one aspect of this. In this case, lightfastness refers to the degree of ink fading caused by exposure of the printed surface to ultraviolet rays contained in sunlight. It is important to prevent fading not only for labels used outdoors on equipment such as vehicles and air conditioners, but also for window seals and retail labels that are exposed to sunlight indoors.
In response to these industry trends, SCREEN GA has launched a new yellow ink with strong fade resistance for the Truepress Jet L350UV SAI S. This ink has achieved the highest rating of grade 8 on the Blue Wool Scale (BWS), an international index of lightfastness. This means all Truepress Jet L350UV SAI S inks now have a lightfastness of grade 8, enabling label printing for a wider range of applications than ever before, and supporting further business expansion for printing companies.
SCREEN GA has a long history of developing inkjet printing technologies that offer both high speed and high quality, and it has also worked to promote production line automation and create a range of solutions to resolve specific customer needs. By combining these various aspects, it hopes to open up further new markets and contribute to the continuing growth of the overall printing industry.
