Increased production quantities, fast changeovers: How Konica Minolta customers achieve creative growth
The past few months have posed particular challenges for commercial printers and print providers offering label printing, while at the same time creating opportunities for them. After all, the soaring demand in the healthcare and food sectors meant that large volumes of packaging and thus labels and tags were needed quickly. Three examples illustrate how print providers have risen to this challenge and are using times of crisis to expand their business flexibly and prepare for the future.

Serving some of the world’s most iconic brands, Bellwyck – headquartered in Toronto, Ontario (with additional locations in Owen Sound, Ontario and Langley, British Columbia) – has its sights set on not only being the Canadian leader of premium brand and pharma/healthcare packaging but also a global leader. To achieve this goal, Bellwyck has recently installed a Speedmaster CX 102-8+LY-1+L with “Push to Stop” technology from Heidelberg at its Toronto headquarters – its second CX 102 in the last 18 months. Both presses are powered by Heidelberg’s Prinect workflow and are part of Bellwyck’s larger vision of transitioning into a “Smart Factory.”

Romprix, Romania’s leading digital print service provider, has announced the addition of an HP Indigo 20000 Digital Press to its printing fleet, the first to be installed in Romania. The installation of the new HP Indigo 20000 is part of the company’s strategy to increase productivity in label production and expand into new market segments such as flexible packaging, shrink-sleeve and wrap-around labels.

The Austrian printer confirmed order for two fully automated MPS EFA 530 presses via WhatsApp group video call.
To further increase label production capacity due to increased volume, Austrian printer Ulrich Etiketten based in Vienna is adding two additional MPS flexo presses to their machine park. Ordered were 8- and 9-colour MPS EFA 530 presses, and marks a total of 11 MPS flexo printing presses purchased by Ulrich Etiketten.

Contiweb, a specialist in advanced printing technologies, advanced drying and web handling, today announced that Dutch book printer Printforce has installed a Contiweb Digital Fluid Applicator (DFA). This is a remoistening applicator designed to significantly improve the quality of digital print products.
