Eight months ago, Colony Packaging & Machine made the biggest decision in its 53-year history by changing its name. Formerly known as Colony Paper, the new name better reflects how the family owned, third generation-run business has evolved since three war veterans opened the shop in 1964. Another key decision has since followed - the installation of a reconditioned 52-inch Lawson paper cutter with a Microcut® electronics package from Colter & Peterson in October.

In response to demand for dramatically shorter packaging run-lengths in the food and personal healthcare sectors, folding carton converter Qualvis Print & Packaging, of Leicester, UK, has moved into digital production with major investments in printing, coating and finishing equipment. With two digital printing and integrated folding carton coating lines from Xerox and TRESU, Qualvis is offering an efficient on-demand service with lead-times of between six and 10 days.

In an increasingly competitive world, reducing costs, increasing production speed, lowering set-up times and striving for the finest quality are key factors for a company to position itself in the market. This applies particularly to Grupo La Papelera in Bolivia, a large-scale and long-established printing company for boxes and display materials with seven business divisions in the country. Its factory for corrugated cardboard in El Alto is sited in the Andes at 4,100 m above sea level, giving it the distinction of being the highest BOBST client in the world. Recently it extended its collection by two new highly automated BOBST machines, a 1228 NT five-color off-line flexo press and a MASTERCUT 2.1 cutting and creasing system. These are already allowing the company to increase productivity and expand their product range.

With the acquisition of a new M5X inline flexo press, Tom Druk, a leading label converting company based in Lodz, Poland, maintains its on-going programme of investment in leading-edge technology. Completion of the sales took place at Labelexpo Europe 2017, where the M5X was demonstrated on the BOBST stand. The machine chosen by Tom Druk features 10 colors and is fully equipped with UV LED curing technology and Digital Flexo 3.0.

Label Systems, Inc., located in the Dallas suburb of Addison, Texas, has earned a solid reputation for providing high quality label products with innovative solutions and good old-fashioned customer service, through nearly 45 years of business. The addition of The All New FA from Nilpeter will jump start their journey into the next 45 years of business.
