Company produces disinfectant for the city of Heitersheim

The Baden-based machine and plant manufacturer ystral helps in the Corona crisis. The family business from Ballrechten-Dottingen has produced almost 200 litres of disinfectant and has distributed it to organisations in the neighbourhood who particularly need it - such as nursing homes, care services and family doctors, but also the fire brigade and police.
The idea came from ystral process engineer Jonas Brauch. Through his work with the voluntary fire brigade of Heitersheim, he is a member of the city's administrative staff. There the pharmacist Christine Thorn reported that there were problems in the procurement of disinfectants - also because of the long production time. "So I suggested that this be carried out at our technical center," Brauch recalls. The ystral management immediately supported this idea, of course.
Christine Thorn took care of the procurement of the raw materials. ystral then took over the production. In the company's pilot plant, 20 litres of surface disinfectant and 160 litres of hand disinfectant were produced using a jet mixer. These were filled by the local fire brigade in 750 ml bottles.
"For us, it was a matter of course that we would help the community with our possibilities," says Managing Director David Manke. ystral is classified as a system-relevant company because of its machine technology and continued to produce without restrictions even during the Corona crisis - naturally under maximum safety and hygiene precautions to protect its own employees.
"The corona crisis demands a lot from us," continues David Manke. "We are proud of what our employees are doing under these challenging conditions. At the same time, we are glad that we have been able to pay back a small contribution to our home country with our knowledge and technology".
"I am very grateful to Ystral for this uncomplicated help in this time of crisis," says Heiterheim's mayor Christoph Zachow. "The professional production saved us a lot of time and effort. As a result, medical practices, nursing homes and emergency services could be supplied with disinfectant promptly".
