In recent years, BOBST has gradually increased the attractiveness of its Competence Centres, which are spread around the world, as a contact point for customers and interested parties from the various geographical regions. At present the world's leading manufacturer of machinery and systems for packaging production in the fields of folding cartons, flexible packaging, labels and corrugated packaging is expanding the significance of its Meerbusch facility with a variety of measures.

"Bobst Meerbusch is the second largest sales and service company of the Bobst Group after the USA. Our customers, interested parties and industrial partners from Germany and the Benelux countries have always been happy to come to our Competence Centre for individual machine demonstrations and events. Our training and education courses, which we carry out here on the latest machines, are also very popular with our customers and their employees because of their efficiency and goal orientation. For them, our Competence Centre as the first point of contact for all their questions about our technology is now gaining additional importance," explains Bobst Meerbusch Managing Director Dirk Corsten.
The most striking innovation for visitors and the employees of the sales and service company is the completely redesigned entrance area. The ultra-modern architecture with a large window front supports BOBST's image better than ever before as a highly innovative solution provider, helping to redesign the future of packaging production. Thanks to the large floor-to-ceiling windows in the side façade of the Competence Centre, more daylight enters the machine hall. At the same time they allow a view of the machines in the hall from the entrance area.
In addition to the structural measures, BOBST will be installing brand new machines in the Competence Centre in the coming weeks for demonstrations and for training and education purposes. As in the company's other Competence Centres, several machines are always installed in Meerbusch ready for operation. Many customers and interested parties come to Meerbusch to try out ideas for new packaging on the machines under real-life conditions with BOBST's experts and to discuss the latest market requirements. In addition, BOBST will be presenting the latest features of its BOBST Connect modules in Meerbusch, including its Connected Services, including its remote helpline maintenance services, and its Remote Monitoring and Downtime Tracking productivity apps. These services play a key role in Bobst Group's industrial vision of networking, digitisation, automation and sustainability, which are cornerstones of a new reality in packaging manufacturing.
At present, all customer contacts in Meerbusch take place in strict compliance with the AHA formula (keep distance, observe hygiene, wear an everyday mask or mouth-nose cover) of the Federal Office for Civil Protection and Disaster Relief for infection control.
In the summer of 2020, BOBST announced that it would make greater use of its Competence Centres around the world for customer events and would tend to reduce its presence at trade fairs. "In Meerbusch we can now demonstrate the efficiency of our technology and our organisation better than ever before. Our measures to further enhance Bobst Meerbusch will further strengthen the view of our customers and interested parties that BOBST is the right partner for them with its solutions and services," says Corsten.
