Oil and fat industry plays a central role in food security
Supporting programme focuses on current challenges
oils+fats@drinktec will be held at the Munich Trade Fair Centre from 12 to 16 September. At the trade fair for business and technology, the latest products, services, trends and innovations for vegetable proteins, oils and fats will be presented.
This year, the industry get-together is also dominated by the Ukraine war. The effects of this are being felt all over the world. They show: A secure, diverse and sustainable supply of oils, fats and proteins is not a foregone conclusion. These challenges will be highlighted in an extensive supporting programme.
Especially in 2022, the oil and fat industry plays a central role in food security. The availability of edible oils - especially sunflower oil - has made it into the headlines of the daily press. On the popularity scale, sunflower oil follows rapeseed oil. Topics, need for action and perspectives arising from this will be the focus in Munich.
Politicians are also called upon to set the right framework conditions so that producers, traders and service providers can fulfil their role in the supply. This applies to the area of energy security, to market and price developments, as well as to the topic of sustainability or the future use of biofuels. This political dimension gives oils+fats additional significance as an international industry summit this year.
Together with drinktec, the world's leading trade fair for the beverage and liquid food industry, which is taking place at the same time, the event provides the framework for numerous special events and opportunities to meet: At the English-language 8th DGF Education Course from 13 to 14 September, participants will learn the latest basic principles and developments in oilseed processing and vegetable oil processing. On 15 September 2022, the Protein and Oil Symposium, which is free of charge for trade fair visitors, will highlight opportunities and challenges facing the industry today and what to expect tomorrow. On 16 September 2022, the Oilseeds Forum 2022, organised for the first time by AMI/UFOP/OVID in cooperation with Messe München, will provide a lecture and discussion platform for exchanging views with political decision-makers, analysts and companies on current developments in the markets and trends in the use of proteins and oils.
