St-Luc Labels & Packaging, specialists in printed packaging services, has installed two presses this week, the HP Indigo 8000 Digital Press at Altrif Label in the Netherlands, and the HP Indigo 20000 Digital Press in the company’s Belgium site. This marks the 100th installation of the HP Indigo 20000 globally. With a focus on mid-volume jobs, the installation of the two presses will help St-Luc increase the digitalisation of flexo jobs from 1,000 to 5,000 running metres.

Based on new generation dry toner platform ready for Industry 4.0
At Labelexpo Europe, Xeikon introduced the new Xeikon CX500 digital label press, the first press based on a new generation dry toner platform that is ready for Industry 4.0. For larger sized labels, labels requiring an opaque white or an extended colour gamut, the Xeikon CX500 outperforms all high-quality digital label presses in terms of productivity, thanks to its web width of up to 520mm (20.47"), full rotary printing technology and 30m/min (98ft/min) printing speed. The wide web Xeikon CX500 is part of Xeikon dry toner Cheetah Series serving the high-end self-adhesive label market, and it complements the narrow-web Xeikon CX3 which has been very successfully adopted since its introduction in 2015.

Stratus Packaging, a France-based leader in the label converters market, has purchased two new HP Indigo presses bringing its total fleet to five HP Indigo presses. The purchase marks the first HP Indigo 8000 and the first HP Indigo 20000 for in-mould labelling (IML) printing in France. With these new additions, Stratus Packaging will be able to offer more label options to its customers, including IML, shrink-sleeve and longer runs.

With their investment in two Xeikon CX3 digital label presses, Belgium-based label printer Femalabel more than doubles its capacity. The investment provides the company a solution for the growing demand for high quality and complex specialty products.

German-based Wir Werbeideen, a specialised print service provider that focuses on high quality adhesive labels, has purchased an HP Indigo WS6800 press. With the new press Wir Werbeideen will be able to produce a high number of small volume print runs each day for high-end labels. The new HP Indigo WS6800 press will replace the HP Indigo WS4500 Wir Werbeideen has been running for nearly nine years.

Automated Digital Print Manufacturing will be one of the key themes addressed by Xeikon at Labelexpo Europe 2017 (Brussels, September 25 to 28), where the company will feature its industry-leading digital label printing capabilities in the new Automation Arena. Its aim is to develop its digital resources to adapt to an ever-changing packaging market, as well as bring more flexibility and agility to its orders and stocks.

High quality in label printing with limited runs

Froben Druck GmbH & Co. KG has added an HP Indigo WS6800 Digital Press into the modern machine park in Ottersberg, Germany. The print service provider, which specializes in self-adhesive roll labels for the food sector, will be able to meet the growing demand resulting from the company’s good reputation in the market.
At the end of last year, Froben Druck expanded its production area with an additional hall and commissioned additional printing machines for larger circulation. According to Timo Wolfsdorf, a manager at Froben Druck, the new digital printer is essential.
