With 40 years’ experience, ARGRAF has become a reference in the manufacturing of food labels and a leader in high-end wine labels. Its achievement of this position has been based on quality and innovation. In 2017, in order to continue its forward progress, the company decided to commit to web-fed digital printing by enlarging its self-adhesive department with the addition of two digital printing presses. In 2019, ARGRAF extended its portfolio again with the acquisition of a Xeikon CX3 digital press, designed specifically for the production of self-adhesive labels.

Increased application range with creative and enhanced designs
Xeikon has developed a specific solution for printers looking to enhance and increase their range of labels. It is the unique combination of the Xeikon X-800 workflow and the PantherCure UV ink that can generate a tactile layer, responsible for a so called “haptic effect” in print. Printers can easily create designer labels with enhanced tactility, textures and a luxury feel. Xeikon’s new haptic printing process not only boosts and expands the range of possible applications for high-end label markets, it helps make significant time savings by avoiding any modifications to the prepress files. Tactile effects on labels are greatly appreciated by the beer, beverage, food, and Health & Beauty markets.

Comex, a leading printer in Poland for highly processed, technologically advanced self-adhesive labels has invested in a Xeikon 3030 digital label press designed with variable web widths and dry toner technology. The company states the investment strategy is to expand its business through increased production capabilities and continue to provide exceptional customer service in the region and beyond. Founded over 30 years ago as a commercial printer, Comex can now combine its unique and innovative RFID technologies with Xeikon’s latest dry toner technology to produce a broad range of complex multi-layer, peel-off labels and personalised designs for the pharmaceutical, flexible packaging, food, beverage and cosmetics industries as well as mass event tickets with varying levels of security for sporting and cultural events.

Xeikon is set to showcase its complete portfolio of innovative solutions at PrintEx 2019. Taking place in Australia at Sydney’s Olympic Park, 13 - 16 August, this popular show attracts the wider print community. Xeikon will use this opportunity to highlight the fact that Xeikon technology is much more than a labels platform. The company is set to demonstrate the multiplicity and breadth of solutions they have for a variety of sectors that use both inkjet and dry-toner technology, all driven by Xeikon’s powerful and user-friendly digital front end, the X-800. Xeikon is focused on meeting and supporting businesses looking to diversify and add new revenue streams.

At Xeikon Café 2019 in Lier, the company's headquarters, which attracted almost 1,000 visitors, the manufacturer not only presented new applications, but also gave an outlook on the upcoming Labelexpo. One thing is clear: digital printing is growing and penetrating areas that had previously not been served. By Sabine Slaughter

The prejudice: "Digital printing is expensive, can process only a few substrates and finishing is difficult" no longer applies. The image has changed in recent years, especially in the area of toner but also ink - right up to food safety for dry toner. The Xeikon Café 2019 not only cleared up this prejudice. The finishing of packaging and labels has become part of good digital printing practice. In times of ever shorter job run lengths, more versions as well as action-, individualized and personalized application requirements of brand owners, digital printing offers more than an alternative to conventional analog production processes and complements the offerings of print service providers in this highly competitive market environment.
